The Mascot rule (stainless) I have has HO, O, and S on one side, and N scale on the other side.

What other scales do you need?

I stopped using scale rulers in favor of a digital caliper.

I have an ExCel spreadsheet where I enter the real-world dimension and it aumatically converts it to inches down to the thousandth. I enter that into the caliper and transfer it to the model.

It would be interesting to know what "scale" a G gauge ruler would be in because it has become a "rubber" scale based on what prototype gauge is being represented by the track: is it meter gauge(1:22.5), 3 foot narrow gauge the so called F scale 1:20.32); 42" gauge; or "standard" gauge?   And even if "standard" gauge, does that mean a scale that matches the track for the Aristo Craft and similar makes (1:29) , or the scale that was used with the old and obsolete "1" gauge (1:32)?

Various manufacturers have rounded up or rounded down these scales or arrived at their own "looks good" compromise scales.

Hello All,

SeeYou190
I have an ExCel spreadsheet where I enter the real-world dimension and it aumatically (SIC) converts it to inches down to the thousandth. I enter that into the caliper and transfer it to the model.

I found a scale conversion website:

Garden State Central Scale Calculator

This site covers many scales, via a drop-down menu, and can convert from actual to scale and scale to actual.

I also have a set of calipers; decimal inch, millimeters, and fractional inch- -very handy- -from Harbor Freight Tools.

For rougher measurements, I have an inexpensive plastic caliper that is scaled in fractional inches and millimeters.

I model in HO and have a Microscale Decals® clear plastic ruler- -available in HO only.

Good luck with your search and as always...

Hope this helps.
