A Couple of Great Layouts: O and HO scale (D&H)
Posted by Harrison on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 7:51 AM

I recently visited a friend down near Saratoga, NY (2 hour drive from me) and filmed his 2 layouts. His true love is his O gauge layout, but personally I think his HO layout is much better than some "HO scalers". Enjoy my videos below.

Well, nice videos.

But why does everyone need spoil things with the music?

Well, nice videos.

But why does everyone need spoil things with the music?

I am normally not one to use music when not necessary. The problem is there is so much talking and background noise that I thought it best to just cover it, and listening to music is better than listening to nothing in my opinion. I will have another video on the HO layout coming out with narration, etc.

Harrison,

Very nice.  What video editor do you use?  I'd like to improve some of my videos.

Those O scale trains are zooming Stick out tongue

Thanks for the videos brother. I always like seeing other people's layouts. Can't beat a double track mainline.

Thanks Bill and Matt! Glad you enjoyed. I use Hitfilm Express. It's free, and can be downloaded on Windows and Mac. The only catch is you have to make an account, and you can only use Hitfilm on one computer at a time. I find editing videos in 4K resolution or 60FPS to be annoying, as my desktop with a 4-core CPU and 16GB of RAM can't handle it well.

Hope this helps. Let me know if there are any questions.

I highly reccomend Davinci Resolve. It's a full-featured editing, color grading, and compositing software package from Blackmagic. It's completely free and it gives Adobe Premier a run for its money. I used it for making YouTube videos back in the day.

Harrison, it also lets you lower the resolution of the editing perview (called a proxy) while you're editing so your computer doesn't have to play 4K video while you're editing. It also has the ability to cache the clips in the background so they can be edited easier. Of course, it renders the final export uncompressed.
