Do you mean the NCE (North Coast Engineering)? NEC is Nippon (Japan) Electric Company, and I don't think they make a DCC system.
NCE is used by many people, even on large club layouts. I don't have an NCE system, but use a lot of their decoders.
I'm sure you're going to hear from many satisfied NCE users, because I've never heard anything bad about any NCE product....

Our club uses NCE and it is extremely reliable and flexible. A bit more costly than some others, but value usually is. Even though our club uses it and they are just down the street here in Webster,NY, I am going with Digitrax (I'm just a poor boy from the country and the grandchildren need new shoes - that's an old man joke).

Yes, the NCE Powerhouse Pro system is a joy to use. Yes it is expensive, cost here in Australia was $695.00 (comes with 2 DS13SR silent decoders) plus $150.00 for the 5 amp power supply.
The decoders I fitted to an Athearn U28C and an Athearn GP50. Both are very quiet and smooth runners.
Worth every cent as far as I am concerned.
I am currently waiting for my updated Eprom chip and manual to arrive from the U.S.
