Hello to all of my MRR friends out there, hope everyone has been having a good summer even with all this virus stuff going on. Anyways, it has been since this past winter that i had done anything on my N scale free lanced layout. Some of you remember when i began building it in a pre built 14'x20' building. Since all of this virus stuff i have been furloughed from my job and could possibly loose my position so i have not been doing much in the way of spending money lol.....Anyways, The last project i worked on and am still working on is the turntable and engine faciltiy services. I finally got the TT installed and wired. As you can see i almost have the roundhouse and add on stalls completed. Anyways, i have attached a few recent pictures to show you what i have planned so feel free to comment or add suggestions. Also, before i go any further i am going to have the walls insulated and sheet rocked.....It had been planned to be done this last winter but due to work and time restraints it got put on the back burner but it will be done ASAP as well as the heating and cooling put in before the weather turns cold again.....Thanks again everyone and stay safe!
Kinda don't know what the question is, but I have been building my railroad. Luckily I have not had any money problems yet, nor has any extended family (they are mostly teachers). Got most of what I need for the layout, gathered up over the last few years and some before, only expence being some 1x4's and foam but I did just buy some wire for feeders as I ran out. In fact I just got the mainline running.

Trainzman2435 before i go any further i am going to have the walls insulated and sheet rocked.....It had been planned to be done this last winter but due to work and time restraints it got put on the back burner but it will be done ASAP as well as the heating and cooling put in before the weather turns cold again.....
I would have put the insulation in and drywall before trains because you'd have full access to the wall. So many get ahead of them selves putting trains in before the room is properly finished. Plus it can be a messy busines better done before the trains are out. I know from experience!

I had to retire a little early due to medical issues and having the trainroom to keep me occupied saved my sanity for sure.
My Dad retired when I was 19 and bought his first new car ever and went out and really enjoyed his retirement. The one thing he said to me that stuck was he could not understand why people have to cut back when they retire. When you are retired you have nothing but time and need more money to enjoy it. He made sure he had plenty to enjoy his retirement and did. I always remembered that and am good to go.
Hopefully, things will pick up where they left off in the, not too distant future. In the meantime, I don't notice much of a change as I would be home playing with my trains regardless.

riogrande5761 Riogrande5761, thanks for your input as well as everyone elses.....This brings me to my next dilema....Now that i do have the insulation in the walls, how would be the best way to approach the sheet rock? As you can see by the pictures i have added, my benchwork is attached directly to the wall studs. You will notice that i have wooden blocks attached as well as screws through the actual 1"x4" that is against the wall. What would be the best way to do the sheetrock? Should i remove the screws and pull the benchwork out from the studs enough to put the sheetrock in or???? Also, since i have built the current benchwork to the bare studs around the room, if i add sheetrock to the wall wont that make my benchwork a little too big to fit the room, the sheetrock is 3/8"? I wish i had not gotten in such a hurry last year but now i need to make the best of it.....Any help and or recomendations is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!
