Palomino - Track Plan Update
Posted by Tom Bryant_MR on Saturday, June 1, 2019 10:32 AM

Based on some good inputs I made the following changes and starting construction of the benchwork, backdrop, lighting (infrastructure stuff)

1) Decided to scenic both "Staging/holding" areas to provide more operation. I dug out my KATY system time table for the trains running this portion of the two divisions - 2 running north and 3 south.

2) Extended La Grange to accomodate the bridge (La Grange has a similar bridge). And I am still working on positioning the bridge - including working a drawing for the construction below.  I have it in my mind now to build this portion offline - like a diorama - and then insert into the layout.  More coming this item

3) Placed correct sized structures on the plan based on my existing "stash" Big Smile

Original plan below had too many staging tracks on the ends and several switchbacks were used.

Great looking plan! I like the creamery the best. What kind of operations are you doing with the creamery?

Thanks Duke.

The creamery will be producing the famous Blue Bell ice cream from Breham TX.  Will use refigerated reefers to transport to the Smithville transload team facility where it will then go by truck over to the Smithville retail creamery shop - will probably rename the retail shop Smile

Very cool! I used to work at a creamery here in Vermont. Some of our packaging used to come from the same place Blue Bell used. We would get boxes that said Blue Bell sometimes.
