Mini and Micro LDE's on my layout

I think Tony Koester’s Layout Design Elements are a great idea, but there’s only one problem: My entire layout is only two LDE’s. So I created mini LDE’s. Mini LDE’s are scenes on my layout the are prototype based, and give the feel of the prototype. Here are some mini LDE’s on my layout.

Georgia Pacific Paper Mill(GP Mill)- this is the largest industry in Plattsburgh on my layout. The real mill is huge, but my selectively compressed mill gives the brick feel of the prototype, and the kitbashed fences are very distinctive to GP. The GP mill lead track crosses the road as a curve prototypically. The parking lot for the trucks still has to be finished.

Rt. 9 railroad crossings- these are another distinctive feature, as I frequently drive over them. the curved, unprotected crossing adds visual interest, as well as operational challenge. This scene also is lacking scenery at the moment.

The Rt. 9 underpass- this one is a classic, there is actually two almost identical underpasses, I am modeling the one farther north, by cliff haven. This provides a scenic divider between the(soon to exist) forest, and the yard and city.

The Engine track- this one is less obvious, but it’s simple. The Plattsburgh switcher parks on this track, and the crew park in the adjacent parking area. The nearby general store provides a sense of a town and somewhere for the crew to grab lunch.

Planning: Champlain Plastics- Champlain Plastics is the biggest industry in Rouses Point, and the nearby road and cornfield will add a sense of rural farmland. Mini LDE’s are very useful in planning stages.

Micro LDE’s: The scenes with in scenes, those little details visitors like to find after looking for a while. I have some of these, as I get more scenery done more will appear.

Wow, I think you have put more thought into your layout design and elements than many of the seasoned veterans. Very nice work.
