Digitrax Genesis 2? Any info?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, December 27, 2004 3:47 PM
Anyone using the Digitrax Genesis 2? Is it worthwhile? Would it be any better than a Zephyr, or Prodigy? Any input at all?
Thanks

Genesis is an old system. A Zephyr is FAR easier to use. Manuals are still online at [url]htp://www.digitrax.com{/url], so you can check it out for yourself. However, if you have a Zephyr AND a Genesis, you can use the booster from the Genesis as extra power with the Zephyr as the command station.
Programming with the UT2 in the Genesis 2 set has got to be a pain, plus you are limited to CV values of 0-99 only. However, combined with a Zephyr, you can use the UT2 as a second throttle.

I always look for such things on ebay though - because if I can get it cheap it makes a great add-on to my Zephyr. I WILL need more than 2.5 amps to run my layout, so any way to get a cheap DB150 for an extra booster... and the UT2 handheld is just a bonus. Plus the UP3 panels are completely usable, the only difference between those and the current UP5 is that the UP5 has an additional (5th) jack on the side to feed non-railsync devices like a DS54.
