Moving the SIW
Posted by joe323 on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 6:52 AM

Well packing is in earnest for the SIW move downstairs and I have tried some new things

Bubble wrap is a PITA but i am bubble wraping all the buildings and then placing each one in a plastic bag in case any detail break off and need re-attachment they won’t get lost.  Same for Rolling Stock that does not have original boxes.  All boxes marked fragile.

This was also a good time to inventory my collection so far 17 locomotives 51 pieces of rolling stock with one more room to go.

Tonight I am hoping to pack up my work supplies being sure all the bottles of paint and glue stay upright and sealed.  I also want to inventory this.

Over the weekend my new display case arrived and I got a chance to tour the new room.  Homosote is going down on the floor as sound proofing the outlets are being upgraded and next week hopefully the lamanate floor will go down.

I took the new photo background to the paint store I am going to try and match the sky as best I can brought home some samples to try.

Still on my list

Drilling holes in the benchwork for lighting and additional feeders I want to rewire the layout while its up so I don’t have to crawl under.

Removing the legs for the move.

Removing and reinstalling shelving for The Hanukkah train, undeshelf lighting and various buildings.

Wrapping up The Lionel.

Seperating stuff for our yard sale in the spring.

Much bigger project then I realize.

Good luck with this Joe.  Moving a layout is never fun.  Hope all goes well (with the Hanukkah party too!).

Packed up the rolling stock last night along with the structures.  Depending on what time I get home tonight I will tackle the workbench.

Floors are going in the downstairs today and the paint is next in the trainroom.

Well we disassembled the benchwork yesterday and with the legs off the top moved easily down the stairs as a unit. Now to re-assemble...
