I wanted to share what was on my workbench before the craziness of the holidays engulfs us.
These days I'm kitbashing a futuristic cryogenic gas powered locomotive for my sci-fi layout "Mines of Xenon". I'm building it with the help of my daughter to teach some basic concepts and share the hobby with her. And boy, is it fun!
The layout also features a turbo train to shuttle workers to the mine and back (below).

I love it!

I knew that sci-fi, dystopian, or steam-punk model railroads were possible, and could be really fun.
Please keep posting!

Due to the impending move of the SIW downstairs I am skiping the holidays this year and going straight to rebuilding after January 1st.

I've seen a couple out there on the internet. MR even had a sci-fi layout plan in April 1978, A Lunar Railroad You Can Model, however it might have been their idea of an April Fool's joke because MR is strictly a rivet counter no fantasy magazine. I also think sci-fi layouts can be fun. Besides my main layout, I just started a historically accurate wild west V&T layout but I'm also planning on building a sci-fi layout based on the railroad in the movie, The Ghosts of Mars. I was thinking about modifying my old Hot Wheels Sizzler trains to use but maybe I'll checkout the Tyco Turbo Trains. I too would love to see updates on this project.
