After 10+ years abscence from US N Scale its time to return. About 8 years ago we took a trip from London to Pennsylvania and somehow we ended up in Strasburg PA where I picked up a copy of David Popps book on building his N scal Naugatuck and a couple of freight cars. Retirement, a couple of house moves and my wife wanting to return to her native USA meant modelling took a bit of a back seat. In an attempt to collect some back issues of various MR magazines I can across Davids Naugatuck 2.0 concept.
I decided to dismantle my OO gauge 1950s UK Shed layout as to expand it would take too much time and money having to order everything from the UK. One thing I liked abouth the original Naugatuck was how its ben completed in stages which suits me fine so Im currently building Davids original idea ( the door and small add on) but using his 2.0 plan but with some minor changes.
I hit across the idea of using my old OO gauge layout L girder fram and legs as the base for my layout and building on top of that but one I removed the 3/4 inch plywood top the underside was as good as the day I purchased the ply back in 2008. Having read what I can about the original Naugatuck and taking note of the pitfalls that were made Im left with a 9ft by 32in baseboard to work with. with lumber in the corner for a 6x4ft board to make a loop to conect the towns of Beacon and Prospect Hill. Currently only the mainline has been laid through beacon
Here in Florida basements are non existant but we do have a 30x20ft Sun Room that was empty.

Are you using 9-3/4 curves on this layout, like David Popp did? Or you're using larger radius.

Hi, no the minimum curves at the moment is 22 & 24 inches, the curve you see in the photo starts out as a 36 inch curve through the curved turnout transitioning to 22 and 24 inches. The next board tha I am building which will be a big loop to get to the back side of this town will be 21inch curves
