Does anyone have any info on the two Burger King structures that Walthers is releasing. Their monthly flyer has been advertising it as coming soon. Has anybody know of a release date.
Sorry about the above questions, I meant to say Dairy Queen, Walters is releasing two types of building, the old style and the new style. The state in their flyer that the old style will be available in July and the newer style in August. So far neither have been available from Walthers
Cheers, the Bear.

They list two in their catalog - the original Vollmer one which is going to be discontinued when sold out - and another one listed with no picture. The one with no picture has the exact same physical dimensions of the Vollmer one. (?) Possibly Walthers bought the Vollmer version and releasing on their own ?
I don't see any other Burger Kings listed on site, and I don't see one in their flyer.
Mark.

Walthers' supplier for these models may have had an issue; the release date for both Dairy Queen building kits is now 28 Aug 2015
HO scale,$29.98, not currently in stock at Walthers, Expected: 28-Aug-2015

The product numbers are nearly identical, and both are Volmer (770). Maybe the new one is an "americanized" version. Would be nice to have one with a better sign for the parking lot, as opposed to those banners.
Still, I'd rather eat the box this kit comes in than eat at a real Burger King.

You also would have seen my post directly before yours, which indicates that the kits' release dates for some reason have been delayed till next week - I guess woodman saw that elsewhere, and didn't bother to respond in this thread.Burger King food isn't bad, although I haven't eaten there in a few years, since they stopped offering "healthy fries" (which were pretty good if you got them while they were hot) - I'm iffy on the taste of their regular fries, but the prior recipe they used for fries until several year ago really stank. The budget menu Burgers and Chicken sandwiches are decent enough, though don't get them with mayonnaise - I recall a sign on the BK counter years ago stating you could save 240+ calories if you ordered your Whooper without Mayo and cheese..

Meh, six of one, food wise.
The new Walthers Dairy Queen is pretty sweet. It's a modern building and very reminiscent of the models made by Summit Customcuts. Reasonably priced too.
Fiber is an oft overlooked, important part of a healthy diet. Be sure to discard the cellophane (just like a ribeye).

That said, when DQ finally came back to Long Island a year or so ago, the first outlet they opened in Massapequa NY was indeed a refurbished Burger King It's somewhat similar to the Walthers Grill & Chill kit, except it's two stories and the entrances are on the sides (the stone facade in the center of the building front is there, though, but has no entrance door). The only DQ's I used to know back in the day (the 1990s) were in Jersey, on Market St. in Newark near the Police Station (long since closed), and the one in Cranford on Rte 28; both were the "Barn Style" type of store, nothing like the Walthers "old style" DQ. The ice cream was pretty good, IIRC...
One of the structures I saved From the SIW was the Walthers Kentucky fried chicken. Talk about bad nutrition

BTW, DQ (the franchising company) is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, who also owns a certain railroad we all know...
The old style Dairy Queen arrived at my local hobby shop today. 'looks like a nice, cleanly-molded kit, with nothing particularly new or special about the way it is manufactured. It doesn't look like it will be at all tricky to assemble, aside from paying attention to keep the large window areas free of glue.
I had mine out of the box long enough be sure that it will fit into the space I have set aside for it on the layout.
