No, but I have just started using Fibre Optics on the layout itself. I bought a $10.00
32" Christmas Tree at Walmart & am planning to work w/that. It seems like you would have to have an awful lot of Fibre's to light up a room unless you used some kind of reflectors or mirrors to expand with.
Sounds like a good idea to me. Fibre Optics has always been a science to me. Something that no one else has tried is my science. LOL

Regards ceiling lighting, I was thinking of creating a night time " stars in the sky effect" with the fiber optics, rather than full room illumination. Maybe fiber optics for head lights and tail lights on autos on the layout ?

That has been done few times, and is a cool effect. It is fairly easy to do, but it helps to have a drop ceiling. I actually have a fireworks display that uses fiber optics. Now that is a lot more complicated than stars in the sky.[;)]

Fred,
I dug up the link for an earlier thread on this topic:
http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=-1&TOPIC_ID=11978&REPLY_ID=96871#96871
If you click on the legend "Advanced" to the right of the "Go" button for the "Search the forums" window near the top of the page, you can enter the search parameters to find past threads on fiber optics or other topics. Entering the values for a one year back search yielded four pages of "hits."
