MRC 2000 Problem with power

I have a MRC 2000 that has never worked properly. It has no power. Trains are slow (2 DCC and 1 DC - DC engine runs faster than DCC). I have purchased a new DCC system and the engines run much better. Any ideas about the problem with the2000?

First of all, DCC engines are not really made to be run on a straight DC power pack, so they will always run better if you have a DCC system. Some manufacturers claim that their decoders can run on both DC and DCC, and that may be true, but it is not good for the decoder or the locomotive's motor to run it on DC. Broadway Limited and some of the other brands that are now using the QSI sound system are an exception to this rule. As far as your problem with the MRC 2000 is concerned, I don't have any idea why it doesn't work properly other than to say that you might have a defective unit. Early MRC Prodigy systems were not very capable, and the 2000 may be similar.

First, remove the straight DC engine for the layout.

Second, make sure that the DCC decoders are programmed appropriately.

I have heard the MRC Tech 4 260 is awsome Might take a look at that one.A very knowledgeable friend recommended it
