<p>It really does not matter what program you intend to use, all of them have a learning curve. How steep that is, depends on your ability to explore the features. I have tried RTS, XtrkCaD, AnyRail and WinTrack and I like RTS the most, although getting acquainted with it takes some time.</p> <p>As other posters have stated, CAD programs are accurate enough to give you a good idea of your track plan and do the sanity check, but not good enough to be used as a template for the reality of your layout. That´s why I would not spend any money on a CAD program and go for the freebie programs.</p> <p>Just an example of what can be done in RTS (+MSPaint):</p> <p><img src="http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/SirMadig/KensLayout4.jpg" style="max-width: 550px;" border="0" /></p>
