Double slip switches
Posted by dickiee on Monday, August 9, 2004 9:25 PM
I would like to hear from some modelers that have successfully used the double slip switch on their layouts. I hope to use this piece of trackwork on my layout. I think complex trackwork and switching looks great and hope to use as much as I reasonably can. I had one on an old layout 20 yr. ago and don't recall having a great deal of problems with it, however I really didn't get a chance to use it a lot before I had to dismantle it.

Thanks
Richard
Just love to watch the trains run.

We have a Peco double-slip switch on our HO-scale club's main line and have had absolutely no problems with it -- except for the difficulty of remembering which way it is set. As near as I can recall, we have never had a derailment or other problem with it that has not been attributable to operator headspace. Because of the close tolerances, it is nearly impossible to know which way one is set by looking at it from a distance.
