the lake up top behind the depot needs one more layer of water to be completed.
ill leave you guys with this last photo for the night. one of my favorite things about my layout is that when the train passes by the "so called sunset" portion of it, the train is just a black out line, like a train in the distance passing over the horizon! its a pleasing and relaxing site! got a lot done today! and more little details will be added tomorrow! hopefully it will be finished by then! trying to have it done before christmas! going to get some rest and look forward to tomorrow!
I think you did a good job making use of the space you have. looks like the terrain turned out good. It gives me alot to think about since I am planning a small layout in N scale.

Congratulations! You have done a lot of great work in very little space, and time! After earlier questioning your 14" radii I was pleased to hear that you are running very small locos. I will have a small HOn30 mine track on my yet to be built layout where there will be some 12" curves but I will be running 4 wheel diesel critters with 4 wheel gons. So far in testing they work just fine.
I have one small suggestion - you could install a short spur in your upper level where the structure is located by forgoing the lake. The structure could be on the spur. This would allow some switching action instead of simply watching the trains run round and round. You could even park some of your larger locos there just for looks.
I also think you have done one thing really well in that it looks like you are having a lot of fun, which is what this hobby is all about.
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Thank you Brian and Dave! I spent a good amount of time the last 2 days after work, cramming in as much as I can, I too am also please with the results!
Your welcome Brian, glad as I was able to help you in some ways and wish you the best of luck on your layout! Be sure to post and Ill peep it out!
Thanks Dave for a great idea! Now that I got DCC, I figured I can run something a little more interactive on the layout, controlling switches and numerous locos. That spur idea sounds like a good plan, once I figure out how to add some micro decoders in my rivarossi 0-4-0 (which i herd is a pain) and a couple critters, then ill soon add that to my layout up top! I was also thinking down the line of adding 2 main lines below with a 24' radius which will loop around the whole layout it self...going into the mountains through tunnels too and a little switching yard as well! my local train shop has some model power critters for a great price! they ran some for me and they run super smooth and quiet! at low speed, the crawled like slugs so they definitely caught my attention! was thinking of kitbashing a few so i can run double headers with helpers on the coal line and at the upper line yet keeping on the 2 main lines down below with the 24' radius running some SD70ACE's with freight and my cab forward with some sp daylight passenger cars and freight at times as well.
all in good time though. for now and with the kids, this will have to do and like you said Dave, I am having fun with it! I would also like to see how your layout turns out too so be sure to post! I will be adding some more photos so this aint the end to this layout

Don't hold your breath on seeing pictures of my layout any time soon. First I have to finish getting my son through school, and then I will have to recover from my lack of income this year. I sell on straight commission (windows, doors and roofing) and 2010 has been the worst year ever! I am down 65% from 2008! Ouch that hurts! So, my MRR purchases are kind of restricted for the immediate future. I do however have a very supportive wife who still allows me to spend a little bit here and there and encourages me to still go to the train shows, and I have a bunch of structures and some Tichy car kits to finish. When I am finally able to start my layout proper I will definately post some pics.
All the best for 2011.
You got an amazing amount of work done in a short time! Well done! I like your results.
Chris

hi, unfortunately the original has been sold. i am willing to make another one if like but you would have to wait as i am currently in the process of building one for another guest
Nice job!! Any tips or tricks you have on creating the mountains would be appreciated!
I'm interested in one let me know when you have time to get started on a new one and we will keep in contact
thank you for responding to me.
JO
B92, that is very nice work! What did you use for snow.

@onecrazytrain- well, no real tricks in making the mountains, just a little creativity, a quick picture on google for reference, and getting your hands dirty. just dont try and make it perfect cause then it will look fake. just throw the plaster on, pull the edges, and let it dry. comes out looking like the real thing in my opinion.
@mr 8a- i will deffiently let you know once i am free and i will be happy to make you a layout, thats if you are local lol
@harry- thanks harry! appreciate it!
i going to add some misc. photos i had laying around on my computer here in a minute of the layout that was sold.
bartolo92, thanks for responding I appreciate it. I kept telling myself the same thing about trying not to make it perfect. It does seem to look much bettter once you add the plaster.
Most definately let me know when you are free so we could get started on ideas for the layout and yes we do live locally i'm located in the Harbor / Long Beach area.
Here's my email get in contact with me there so we can get started on the layout
