New HO layout help needed
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, July 3, 2004 9:43 AM
I am in the Process of building a 4.5'X8.5' layout. I have finished the bench work. Will use 2" of rigid blued foam. I will use Digitrz Zephyr with stationary decoders to operate the signal and panel ligths. I am Using Atlas code 83 tracks with costum line switches. I need help as I have never use DCC before. I have one big question, do I have to use Atlas relays to power the switch frog and signal lamps? and does the Zephyr has enough power to operate switch and signal light plus panel lamps. I am planning to use 12v bulbs for some of the signals how will this work? I live in Denver, Colorado if any of you are Denverites please call me at 303-337-5977. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

What you need for the turnouts and panel lights are stationary decoders. Several DCC manufacturers make stationary decoders. Check Tony's Train Exchange (http://www.tonystrains.com) or Loy's Toys (http://loystoys.com) Digitrax makes stationary decoders, too, so check their Web site.
