Number plate for locomotive....
Posted by MudHen_462 on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 12:12 AM
I am working on a locomotive project, and need a number plate for the front of the 4-6-0 locomotive (HO scale). I have found plenty of suppliers with " number boards" but no number plates. I have been tryin to find one with the number "3", but if I have to I'll settle for a plain "plate" and rig my own number. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....

Preceision Scale makes round number boards (plates?) for the front of engine smokebox covers. They're brass castings, and are sold in sets of numbers from 1-30 or so, plus blanks.

Pre Scale has a horrible website, with NO stock numbers or images loaded (how do manufacturers think they'll stay in business these days?), but Walthers carries their line.

IronGoat,
IMHO, Ray is certainly correct about Precision Scale Co., Inc's Web site being horrible:
http://www.precisionscaleco.com
but if you order their locomotive parts catalog you'll find that they also have photoengraved Builder's plates for American, Baldwin and Lima and lots of other lost wax parts. Putting all of the illustrated content of their catalogues online would represent an investment.
