Confusion about foam board glues

In viewing the various forums I see recommendation for using nonsolvent Liquid Nails for bonding foam board to foam board yet this is specifically NOT recommended in the directions on the Liquid Nails cartridge. What is your experience in this regard?

I used Liquid Nails for Foam Board to make the larger scenery features on my layout and it works well. The only disadvantage is that it takes about a week to dry sufficiently to shape the foam for final details.

White glue, Elmer's, used full strength works very well and drys more quickly.

I generally only use Liquid Nails when I'm gluing foam to wood, which isn't often. Generally, I've found that wood glue is cheaper (by the gallon) and does the job extremely well. Most of my 12x25 three level layout (almost all foam) is held together with wood glue. I generally use silicone caulk to fill in small cracks and to glue down track. I use white glue by the gallon for most scenery stuff.

The product is called Liquid Nails PROJECT. It has an aqua colored label and specifically says on the label it can be used for foam board.

Nope; the label of Liquid Nails for projects specifically says no tto use it for foam to foam joints. Check it out for yourself. It's odd, considering I've used the stuff for just that purpose without any real problems. Wood glue's still cheaper tho...
