Can Micro-Engineering code 83 weathered track be used with Peco Code 83 turnouts?

 Is there significant differences in appearance?

I don't see why not--Code 83 is Code 83.  Right now, I'm relaying my yard with Peco #5 Code 83 turnouts and the yard track is Atlas code 83, and except for a slightly finer 'web' at the rail-bottom on the Peco, they are joining without any problems at all. 

I certainly wouldn't think that there would be any problem between Peco and Micro-Engineering.  In fact, the 'webs' at the bottom of the rails might even be even closer in contour.

The code refers to the height, so assuming good quality control they should be the same, but the head cross section may or may not be the same.  After joining run your finger over the joint, top and inside, to make sure they are even, if not, a touch up with a file or Dremel may be needed.

Yes, but are the ties the same thickness?  For example, Walthers code 83 turnouts have thinner ties than Atlas code 83 flextrack.  This requires that the turnouts be shimmed to avoid a vertical step at the turnout to flextrack joint.

Good point.  I hadn't thought of the ties just the rail.

Interesting the variations you can get with several manufacturers all producing the "same" product. At some point you need to get a sample of each and try it out.

In our new special issue, Realistic Reliable Track, Paul Dolkos deals with the question of varying tie thickness in different makes of track with the same nominal rail size. Paul's solution is to shim the track with the shallower ties. See page 55 in his "Trackwork choices" story for more details.
