Fast Tracks Twist Ties wooden tie-strips... anybody here try/use them?
Posted by DeadheadGreg on Saturday, August 1, 2009 11:33 PM

subject says it all...   I'm just curious as to their advantages/disadvantages compared to Central Valley's plastic tie strips which automatically guage the rail and have tie-plate details and whatnot.

I VASTLY prefer the true, REAL look of wooden ties over painted plastic, and I suppose I can live without tie-plate detail; you don't even see it with your naked eye anyway.

And for those that HAVE used them, what did you use to stain/paint them with?

thanks

 Greg.

Just use the "Search Function" on the right hand side of the page and type in Fast Tracks and/or Twist Ties and you should get all kinds of Info on what people think of them. From what I have seen, most thoughts are of the positive nature. If you go to the Fast Tracks web site, they have numerous video's on how to build turnouts using their jigs and materials.

If you go to Joe Fugates web site, he has a good thread on how he uses a combination of materials to construct his turnouts.
