HELP...I am not having any luck assembling my Walthers Roundhouse.  The sides do not sit on the base as per the instructions.  Any suggestions...PLEASE...

I cannot give you a straight forward answer, as I'm not standing behind you nor do I currently own one of these. I have stuck with the practice of using painters tape (the blue 3/4in masking tape) to assemble the building before actually glueing. On corners, I set both pieces side by side and flat, then tape it. When it's bent to make the corner, the tape will stretch, making a tight fitting corner. This lets me see if any pieces are deformed, need squaring, still have a bump, HAVE  ANY CORNERS LAPPED THE WRONG DIRECTION,  or any other issues. I also use plastruct weld (glue), so I do not have to disassemble much at all, and I'm not fumbling trying to hold parts together tight.

Your description of the problem is very vague. If you're talking about the Cornerstone kit, there are two pieces that make up each wall, an inner and outer part, that must be assembled with the windows, doors, glass, and sandwiched together before assembly with the base. The best thing to do is wire and install the rails and do NOT install the pit before assembly with the walls. Sit the base on a flat surface and use a square or machinist knee to keep the joint square. There is a definate right and left side and they are not interchangable, one has tabs and the other slots where the trusses would mount if you use the add on kit(s).

If you give us a bit more detail of the problem you're having, we might be able to be of more help.

As mentioned your discription is very vague but I feel your pain. I built the Walthers roundhouse with 9 stalls and would not recomend it. On the other hand I have built the Heljan roundhouse with 6 stalls and I have plans to build another one with 21 stalls and I much prefer the Heljan kit. I found it a much better kit for many reason one of whihc what was previously mentioned about the walss being in two pieces.

I would recomend using Tenax-7R glue of you aren't already doing so. It has a very short cure time and fuses the stryene together like plastic welding. One thing you will absolutely have to do with the Walthers kit is block the inside walls and corners, to get my walls square I used a combination of different things I had laying around. A machinest block which is a perfectly square piece of stainless clamped to my work bench. I took each completed wall section and placed it square against the block after putting it in the correct location on the floor. I used a squared off block of wood with a bar clap so I actually sandwiched the wall between  the steel block and the wood block.

If you think the walls are fun wait til you get to the widows on the front and back side of the top center section. send me a pm or an email and I'll show you how I did it if your interested.

Just my 2 cents worth, I spent the rest on trains. If you choked a Smurf what color would he turn?

Please clarify which of the two Walthers roundhouses you are having trouble with.

933-3041 or 933-2900, both of these are three stall roundhouses.

I assumed HO scale.
