Micro-Eng. Wooden ties
Posted by philipq on Sunday, April 19, 2009 11:35 PM

What are the dimensions of Micro-Eng. ties?  I am using 1/16" phel. board to make ties to build my own turnouts, and have been cutting basswood to make the remaining ties, but realized that might not be so smart if I can slip pre-made ones under the rails. So I guess the height of the ties is what I really need to know.

Would the low profile ties they make be the same height as their molded flex track ties?

Thanks,

Phil

I did a quick mic check on ME wood ties:.08 H, .10 W, 1.18 L (scale 8'-6").  Kappler wood ties are .08 H, .10 W, 1.1 L (scale 8'-0").  Campbell Low Profile same as Kappler except .05 H.  Switch ties would be the same except for length.  Height is slightly higher than PC board but will work fine if the PC's are not already fastened down, as the PC's can "float".  If already installed, the Campbell ties will slip under.

Don't have any ME flex, can't help on that score.

Good luck,

Gary
