Not doing well on painting my Athearn locos. I tried alcohol, removes some but not certain colors. Tried brake fluid, no help at all. Tried "Model Master #50495", dried paint solvent. In just a minute it starts to soften the shell and leaves a white haze on the shell. Tried removing the white haze with soap, alcohol,and very fine sandpaper, this works, but can't clean out of details. Heeeeeeeelp. .Oh well you get the idea.Appreciate any help

Are soaking the shell? What is your process? You do have to soak the shell for a while, if the brake fluid is fresh, about 20 mins before you start scrubbing and repeat as many times as it takes to get the paint off. However long the shell is exposed (soaking) to the brake fluid, it should soak in water the same amount of time after stripping is completed to neutralize the chemicals. It has to be "DOT 3" brake fluid btw.
The Polyscale, Cameleon and Scalecoat strippers work well too.
If using alcohol, it needs to be the 90% type.

I did soak the brake fluid (new can). Nothing would touch the Santa Fa herald except the paint remover (Model Master) that I noted and it was too aggressive almost melting the shell before I could get it off. The MM left a white haze that I can't get out of the detail work. The haze is so firmly attached that I may paint over if no one has any suggestion to get it off. The white color may just be where the stripper leached the color out of the shell?
