dullcote brush cleanup
Posted by tedski on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 9:10 AM

Does anyone know of a cheaper way to clean dullcote off of a brush than to use the expensive 1159 Testor thinner/cleaner?  Can I just use something like turpentine?  Thanks.

Hi "tedski,"

You can use lacquer thinner or acetone to clean Dullcote off a brush, and both of these solvents are available relatively cheaply at hardware stores. Lacquer thinner may also be used to thin Dullcote for airbrushing. Acetone and  lacquer thinner are both dangerous organic solvents and should only be used in a well-ventilated area, and you should also avoid skin and eye contact.

Be careful,

Andy

I use paint thinner to clean my brushes.  It comes pretty clean.  I also use thinner for my air-brush.
