I just recently completed construction on my 30" radius helix.. Can I just use styro and make a 24" X 6' mountain. Looking for suggestions!

Keep it light and keep it removeable for access.  You might want to build it in several sections for the same reason.  You will have the occasional derailment, and you'll need to clean the track.

Take a look at Bragdon Foam as an alternative.  www.bragdonent.com.  They have a developed a hardshell-covered-by-rock-casting technique that gives really nice results, and comes out very light.  It's a bit labor intensive, but the finished product is excellent.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

I hid part of mine like this.  It is a bit of work and a lot of foam.  Cardboard strips (or chicken wire) and sculptamold will be much cheaper and probably take less time.
