I need a little help finding a model railroader layout on last years issue
Posted by hubbards98 on Saturday, January 24, 2009 7:34 AM

I just subscribed to Model railroader so I will be able to go to back issues to read and download, but I am trying to find the issue on The Clinchfield coal railroad in "N" scale.

Does anyone remember which issue to find it in?

Use the Model Railroad Magazine database linked on the front page of this website to look up the articles published on The Clinchfield Railroad in N Scale. There were a half dozen sequential articles and I think a sequel. Also Kalmbach put all the articles out in book format.

The MR Project Clinchfield N Scale layout was originally published in Nov 1978.

MR's database only goes back to 1986.

However in June 2008 MR re-visited this landmark layout.  I believe it was also feature in N Scale Magazine at one time as well.

 Cheers

There was also another in-between article by Dave Frary about rejuvenatign the scenery on the Clinchfield layout. It had been given away as a prize in the 50th anniversary sweepstakes and it suffered somewhat in storage. At some point it was aquired by someoen else who has a sort of museum of classic project layouts, and naturally the 15-20 year old ground foam and lichen scenery was more than a bit dull. In the article, Frary showed how to make it look all nice and fresh.

The MR database goes back to the beginning. Maybe you are using something else?

I thought the intent of the original question was regarding back issues, at this time MR doesn't have issues available for sale prior to 1986.

I don't know about for you but all those article links are broken.

You can't see them because they are not hyperlinks. Those articles are written in a bibliographic style. The information posted is from the Model Railroader Magazine  Index. Those are the articles that the search engine came up with about the Clinchfield Railroad in N Scale.
