CNW Millard Line construction progress
Posted by TimmyMWD on Monday, January 5, 2009 7:54 PM

 Hey guys,

After narrowing down a track plan and accommodating to the current limited space I have right now, construction has progressed smoothly of my C&NW Millard Line - a what if railroad operating as if the C&NW continued to exist today and is expanding its operations westward.  It has taken over the dilapidated Millard sub in Omaha, NE from the UP in a bid to assist the construction of commuter rail.

Anyway - I'm getting read to build the other half the layout, which will be removable and storeable under the current layout so I can have a destination for trains, but my wife still gets the space she wants out of the room :D  But enough about that; on to pictures!

Some beautiful C44-9Ws coming down the line past where the passenger station will be.  Roadbed and track are down with the exception of the west car repair yard.

And just to prove I overcame my soldering frustrations and got the DCC system working :D

I apologize for the blurriness of this one; still trying to figure out the wife's camera.   The layout from a whole view.  The sheets of roadbed right next to the engines isn't permanent; I was testing out elevation for the station kit I'm putting together.

Looking west towards the car repair facility.  Just got done caulking and laying down cork to serve as the base for the buildings and track for that large facility that dominates the right side of the shelf.

The as of yet incomplete car repair shop.  I need some more flex track, and I'm almost done laying down the cork for this section.

Anyway, more pictures/updates to come.  This is my first real layout, so its kind of exciting seeing this all come together since I've been envisioning it since I was like ... 5!

The photos are a good start.

Try taking the next photos with some other light source and a flash.

Is this Command Control or Block Control?
