Making progress...
Posted by Margaritaman on Monday, April 14, 2008 11:37 PM

After 15 years I'm getting back into the  hobby on a bit smaller scale.  Last layout was 16' x 20' so I'm finding this 6' x 9' layout much less daunting.  It's built inside a playhouse I built for my daughter about 6 years ago.  She agreed to let me take it over, but to be honest she's in there more than I am and she's a wiz at the Digitrax (she's 7!).  This is my freelance design on paper and then refined with the help of Riley Triggs in 3rd Planit.  Having a CAD program of the layout was the best thing I EVER did in layout planning.  Trees and structures are just temporary. So without any further introduction:

Move 6 years forward...

All inside a 6' x' 9' with enouth room for two.

Please tell me it is N scale! My new section is 5' X 9' and I only have half the stuff you have packed into about the same spaces. Looks great I will add, from the looks of it you will not need our help.

If it is a HO scale, pleaes post your track plain.

All HO.  Mind you those are 15" radius turns on the inside firgure 8, but with the correct scenery you won't focus on them.  As mentioned, I came up with the plan on paper and then had it refined by Riley Triggs (Layout Design Journal) who managed to get some things in using 3rd PlanIt.  I'll post the plan (scan of my drawing and the final 3rd PlanIt version) tonight and hopefully inspire others working within a confined space.

Margaritaman, I am impressed and depressed at the same time. I have saved your plain and will study it later. To bad at this point I like big engines, I am sure my Y-6b, Big Boy, SD40, SD50 etc wont handel a 15 inch turn.

Thanks for the time to post, and if you need a 52 year old son let me know!Big Smile [:D] I will sleep under the bench!
