Construction Photos-Adding the foreground area to the CA&S
Posted by chadw on Saturday, January 19, 2008 3:42 PM

I started building the trackplan that I developed and had modified several times from suggestions from the Switching Layout Trackplan thread. (Thanks Guys!)  The first thing I started doing was adding the foreground area.  This is a section made from 1/4" floor underlayment luan where no tracks will run.  There will be a canal and resivoir on this section as well as several buildings.  Anyway, here's the pics.

First the dam where the resivoir will empty into the canal.

Here's a veiw from underneath the same area.

For now constuction is stopped since the drill battery died and is charging, but there should be more progress soon.

The layout is a 2x8 foot HO shelf switcher based on steel mill operations.  The Switching Layout Trackplan thread goes through the development of the trackplan.  I also want to tell you that the drill is recharged and the whole foreground section is bolted on.  I don't think a pic is necesary since the earlier pics show what it looks like.

First shovel full of dirt for the construction of the water treatment plant.  I'm kind of worried though.  If he's the only one working, this could take a while.  But seriously,  I started scenicing the foreground of the layout.  Tonight I paved the access road in the pic and static grassed the area around it.  I also weathered the dumptruck and made a load for it out of woodland scenics fine cinders.  More to come.

P.S.  How do you guys get such a good depth of field in your photos?  All that's in focus in the above pic is the figure and truck.
