desperate for layout info???

My husband is planning a trip out of town next month and I have decided to surprise him on his return. His father gave him a Lionel O scale train in the 40's and he has always dreamed of having it mounted around the ceiling in our game room in the basement, maybe thru the walls, etc... I have no idea how to proceed. I have subscribed today to several magazines but I don't know... I am beginning to "freak" because I have been on the internet for days and amazed at this incredible hobby (I have a huge interest also all of a sudden also) I want to do this right and money is not an object in this case (he deserves it!!!) I have two really great carpenters lined up to help me. If anyone can help me out with advice on a good book, internet site, pictures, anything, it would be greatly appreciated!!!

The absolute best way for you to proceed is to contact your local model railroad club and ask them for advice on which way to proceede. Failing that you should contact your LHS (local hobby shop), one which specializes in trains, hopefully in O gauge 3rail.

The idea is for you to be put in touch with someone in your area with experience with your train set and making shelf layouts. Trust your gut here in who you hire but also get some references.

As an added bonus, you will likely meet nice people who share your new found interest in model railroading.
