shinohara code 83 90 degree crossing
Posted by fjp on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 6:41 PM

I need one shinohara code 83 90 degree crossing. I tried every local hobby shop and every online train store. Anyone have any ideas or know where I could get one. Its the last piece of track to complete my layout!

look in Ebay, it will pop up there sooner or later. I have found a number of track pieces that Shinohara has not made recently are are not available in the shops in recent years there. - Nevin

Why not just use an Atlas C83 90 degree crossing? You might need to do some shimming and trimming, but seems better than having the entire project on hold.

There not the same.  Although Atlas makes good track, their crossings are VERY noisy.  Even trimming and paring don't really help.  The Walthers-Shinohara are much nicer in that respect.

Guess I'd still rather put in a crossing and enjoy the layout now, even if the area had to be reworked later, than to spend weeks or months waiting for the other brand to appear.

You can also use a code 100 crossing. Real lines sometimes used heavier rain on special work. Just make sure to align the tops of the rails of course.
