Great looking water tower
Posted by sinebar on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 10:32 AM

I think this is a water tower but may be a coaling tower: http://kalmbachcatalog.stores.yahoo.net/mrp.html

Anyway does anyone know where I can get the tower on the front cover of the magazine in the link?

The structure is a coaling tower.  I don't know the prototype, but you can clearly make out the chute partly deployed over the track.

That appears to be an "Ogle" type coal tower. It's been manufactured and imported in brass, I know Overland has imported them.  MR had a great article a couple of months ago on how to build an animated coaling tower as well.  As far as regular kits go I don't think I've ever seen an "Ogle" type kit. Tichy makes a nice generic Fairbanks Morse 400 Ton which has many kitbashing possibilities.
