Adding sound to Athearn HO RS3 Locomotive
Posted by kcoyle on Saturday, October 27, 2007 10:57 PM

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a Athearn HO RS3 Locomotive Erie that is DCC enabled.  I want to know if there would be enough room in the cabin area to add a speaker as I want to put sound in it along with the decoder.

  Thanks,

Well there should be. I recently added sound to an Atlas RS-1, it worked fine. I used a 1/2" speaker with a speaker enclosure in the long hood, pointed down. Although it's true it's always best to use as big a speaker as possible, I find 1/2" speakers are fine as long as they are in a proper enclosure.
