CWA,
The Budd Car Co. is (was) a long standing Philadelphia industrial innovator -- and a major employer.
In addition to railway vehicles, they also originated numerous production techniques ofr auto and truck design and manufacture.
I'm almost certain that "Budd" is the founder's family name.
I'm also pretty sure that Budd family descendents are jealously guarding that name, patents and rights -- Thyssen/Krupp/Budd being the present corporate identity.
Try typing "Budd", "Budd Car Co" or "Budd Co" in your browser, for a search.
Enjoy,
Mike in Philly.
