Hi, My name is Paul and I live in (Old) York, (Old) England and close to the National Rail Museum.
I have always modeled British Railways, North Eastern Region in the late 1960's of Steam and Diesel Rail-cars - 00 scale (1:76.2 and 16.5mm (H0 Gauge)
However, I only ever purchase Model Railroader, since it is far superior to any of the contemporary British Magazines and also much more inspiring. The quality of the Layouts in MRR is pretty good.
I became interested in North American Railroads after watching Videos on YouTube. The sheer scale of the Trains and Country is mind-blowing in comparison to what we have here in the UK
At the moment my Layout is packed away until I relocate and retire. I design 7-1/4" (7-1/2") & 5" Gauge Live Steam Locos (SolidWorks 3D CAD) and also earn a real living as a Contract Draftsman.
But after watching the 'Dedication to the Railroads in Missouri over the 'The Valley Road' by Bruce Hornsby & the Range I am hooked and I think I will change Scale and Country of Origin for my new Layout. As a kid, way back in the 1960's the sound of the Train approaching the Level-crossing and the Bell clanging away - then silence, on 'Pet Sounds' was evocative and it has always stayed with me.
Anyway, that's enough of me, back to Forum and the Trains. I've been doing a bit of searching thru older topics and I don't want to re-ask FAQ's
Best regards, Paul
