The Canal Street Station on the Route of the Broadway LION

Posted by BroadwayLion

The Walther's Proto 1000 R-22 type subway car arrives at the Canal Street station, on the LION's Route of the Broadway LION. The station platform in front of the car is made of roofer's fiberglass insulation boards, photos of the real Canal Street station were sized and glued to the wall immediately behind the model giving the feeling of depth. The overhead is yet to be modeled as there will be a street scene immediately above this station. In New York City, Canal Street used to be the canal until it was filled in. As such it always has a water problem inside of the station. On the layout the Gowanus Canal will be immediately above the station and above that will be the elevated Smith-9th Street Station.
