Power hungry Norfolk Southern continues to run mid-train locotrol on its Deep South lines as the 1990s wear on to the new millenia. With power needs vastly outweighing current roster availability, NS opted to run brand new units in primer in order to speed up delivery and work the units south from Canada until they reached paint booths in Chattanooga, TN. Several dozen cars behind the lead power is a radio car and a slave unit keeping the black diamonds moving to Southern electric generators.
