OK. Newbie here so bear with me if this a silly question. I have noticed flipping through diffrent adds that Bachmann Train sets and Individual locomotives list for roughly the same price. Is there something Diffrent about the locos sold in the sets? I see one ad that has a bumble bee selling for $160 and right along side it theres a Silverton Flyer set that has what looks to me like a Bumble bee for $140. So how could a loco, two cars, track, and a tranformer cost less then just a loco alone? I know i'm missing something here. Are the set loco's just cheepies?

My wife told me that as soon as the IRS check comes back i can get a train set. Guess after bugging her for a year i finaly wore here down. I Like the look of the Bachmann locos i am just wondering should i get a starter set or would i be better off to just piece one together. Are the Backmann loco's good for kitbashing? I just know I won't be able to leave anything stock. I've done tons of kit bashing and scratchbuilding in smaller scales But my wee little fingers just arn't as wee as they used to be and I need something bigger to get my hands on.

Kevin G
