The longest train the world has ever seen has just been assembled in Port Headland in Western Australia it was 7.53 Km ( about 4 1/2 miles) long and was pulled by 8 diesel locos. This is not a thing of the past but it all happened in 2005. It is an iron ore train and it automatically unloads into a bulk ore carrier 50 metres across and longer than the Eiffel Tower is high. <br /> <br /> <br />Rgds ian
