Parts source, new or used, for G Gauge B'man, Lionel
Posted by hoofe116 on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 3:47 PM

O Gurus of G Gauge:

I have accumulated a couple of damaged engines. Does anyone know where a source for new/used G gauge parts might be located? Website?

Also, to amplify on Kevin's great picture of 'scale', I now have two engines to compare, a Lionel 0-6-0 and a B'mann 4-6-0. Until I saw his pixes, I'd thought to myself, "Yeah, these two are reasonably sized, comparatively, if you just compare cabs. And everyone knows engines come in different sizes." Now I gotta sit down and think some more. But until I learn more, if it fits on Aristo track, it's right for my layout. (Which has progressed incrementally: I now have a small amount of rocks to hand, with a supply of gravel if I will filter it. Free. Just within my price range)Tongue [:P].

Best bet on Bachmann is to ask for what you want.

Some folks strip them down for parts, and have them carefully categorized.

Be specific!

Curmudgeon....what "named" motors does Bmann place in there low cost engines and which ones on the high cost engines? I just never asked anyone.

Lionel offers exploded diagrams for many of their products (with part numbers) on their web site through their "product navigator" area:

Thanks to all who replied. I never thought of Lionel as supplying parts because I used to run the old hi-rail stuff in the 70's. Duh. Thanks, Rene.
