Bargain Buildings

In my travels I came across the following cheap G-Scale buildings:

Target has a nice looking birdhouse that would make a perfect station for $14.99 and Lowes has bird feeders that look like a cottage and another that looks like a school house for $14.88, they're plastic and easy to light.However the buildings from Lowes could use some painting to make them look a bit more realistic.  Wal-mart has a solar-powered operating windmill for $50.

Make that solar powered LIGHTS.  The windmill blades turn by the breeze.  It has a VERY good set of bearings, well lubricated, sealed from the weather, and very free spinning in very little breeze.

I've been eying that windmill, but since I don't have a place... Maybe I'll buy it for Susan.

I made some cheap buildings from birdhouses, as mentioned above. Each cost about $5. I got two squared-timber houses and a log cabin. After making new doors, installing windows, and staining, they looked very nice.

I bought the log cabin from Michaels, put a light fixture in it and stained it with Minwax Walnut stain. I have never seen a peice of wook soak up so much stain in my life.

I painted my Michael's log cabin with acrylics. Thinking I want it weathered gray.
