A New Take On Thomas the Tank Engine
Posted by calenelson on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 3:30 PM

So, I really wanted a Thomas Train for the boys to run outside...and since they haven't been produced in many years, I hear they aren't the most reliable trains ever made, and they cost a "ton"...I thought I'd create "the almost next best thing"....

A New take on Thomas........

HLW had a few Clear Macks for $20....a STEAL...and now they are sold out! DANG!

they also have some "Republican" cars left over from the Dole days....

These go for about $15. each-Nice bashing material...tough as to be expected from HLW as well!

A little paint and letters and this is what we finish up with!

Del @ G-Scale Graphics did the lettering for me on this project!

The Blue on Thomas is 'off' but it was the closest I could find.

here they are together......

The Color for "Annie" is spot on....tried my best to make it all look "close"....the Boys Love it!

I presented to my Middle Boy on Saturday the 17th, his birthday-2 years old!

Here is Ian "Luke" watching ThommyMack run the Main

I figured that a 'tough train' like another Mack they could play with would extend the life of the others in the Roundhouse (dad's trains)!

My eldest will be 4 in July...he wants his Mack painted in "Daylight Colors".....now that should be interesting!

The TommyMack is powered by 9.6v worth of NiMH wired to a DPDT switch and will operate in Fwd and Rev accordingly....It pulls nicely, and at a nice pace.

Thanks for looking!

cale

Many thanks to Dave Goodson, for helping me with the wiring and charging! And Del for a great product!

the Z... your Positive Alternative.

Cale: awesome interpretation! This is what I like to see, the fun stuff taken to another level. Great idea! Now I know what I will be doing with my Big Hauler!

Hmm, Its not unlike the touring thomas (please ask the children to look away)

He's hollow, just a lever to move the eyes, a hand break, and a wistle. I think it usto be a freight car (it certanly rides like one! Black Eye [B)]
