Greetings to you Gurus of G gauge:
I'm almost there. I have a power converter (Lionel, 8 amp DC) coming in the mail, I already have the old huge Lionel transformer (ac) and an LGB hand pumper. I'm going to buy six feet of track and make a test board, then study up on the results. (I already know the old transformer doesn't have the necessary current output to do much with but it'll give me a place to start).
Just a note of thanks to all who've given of their time and knowledge and encouragement to help me get this far. Perhaps I'll meet one or two of you at the Carlyle IL show in March?

Well, there's a nice response. Soon as I get the track, I will take a pix and send it. I bet nobody ever saw a 6' test track. <g>
I wouldn't take too much notice of that mate, its just an idea of what to do and no actual fixed measurement would really apply. More it is just sufficient distance to allow the unit to do what it has to do.
