Biller-Bahn vintage tinplate narrowgauge
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, October 26, 2003 12:07 PM
I'm building a small outdoor system in England for my vintage (c. 1952) 16.5mm gauge tinplate "Biller-Bahn" narrow gauge models. Does anyone out there recognise this manufacturer? Have they ever tried to use the system out of doors? The track supplied with the sets is 100% traditional tinplate so no good for open air operation. I am using PECO 0n30 track instead. I will be interested to hear from anyone working with this system.

Sorry I have no help to offer but to suggest reposting this topic on the "classic toy trains" web forum. You will find alot more people with the expertese in old tinplate trains. Good luck.

   Have fun with your trains

I am familiar with Biller Bahn. As long as you do not use the company's tinplate track, there is no reason why you can't use Biller to create a very interesting industrial garden railway. Make sure you keep the clockwork mechanisms properly lubricated if you are in a damp climate. Also, if you have not already done this, make certain that the wheel flanges are compatible with the track you want to use, especially the switches. —M. Horovitz

I am familiar with Biller Bahn myself. On www.fortunecity.de/lindenpark/skulptur/43/biller-bahneng.htm the are some photos of Biller Bahn trains set up outdoors, but just for photos and not actually running, but perhaps you may want to see them. Another excellent site for information on Biller Bahn is www.billerbahn.de .

Sask,
Your web site is really neat! I've only recently learned of Biller Bahn. Thanks for sharing.
