Making Improvements to LGB's Amtrak Genesis

Hey Guys,

There is a new pdf that shows you how to install a sound unit, a smoke generator, and a decoder in LGB's Genesis loco. It will soon be added to the LGB website, but in the meantime, if you send me a private message, I will foward it to you.

I have fitted decoders and a sound unit to my ICE train and i think there is an American equivalent to the ICE train. I used a sound actuator unit from a Mogul to pick up from track sound magnets.

I have really worked this unit over and it shows it will go where other ICE trains will not and the sound is an LGB European electric unit which has a really lonely sound to it. It has an additional power unit at the back, will work off DCC and has LGB  Kuggel wheels throughout ie with electric pick ups and ball bearings.

I recently purchased a Phase III Genesis loco, it runs beautifully! Really be nice to see smoke and have some sound. Having trouble finding any cars for that livery. I just purchased a cafe car on ebay for it. Man did I get lucky finding that!Wink

A year and a half ago I bought the LGB Genesis in Phase V paint with 4 Amfleet cars. One car is in Phase V and three in Phase IV.  The difference, Phase IV says Amtrak without the "swoosh" and lacks the FRA red stripe along the bottom. (easy to add)

I cut the motor leads free and tapped off the pick-up wires.  Installed a Aristo-Craft control board powered from the pick-ups and controling the twin motors.  The original LGB lighting was left alone.  The rest was easy, I plugged in the Aristo-Craft Revolution "Plug N Play" remote control board and added the Phoenix "Genesis" sound system.  WOW!!!
