the missing propane facility
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, October 16, 2006 9:29 PM
Hello, this is Jonji.
While considering what kind of industries to include in a future MRR, I thought that a propane facility that could unload from propane tank cars would be an ideal choice. So, I have been searching for good photos or in fact any info that would give me a clear direction for modeling such a propane facility. I have looked online for photos and even tried google earth. It seems that there may be some kind of filter on google earth (my guess is Homeland Security) that prevents any kind of look at most of these kinds of facilities. I haven't seen any photos that could give me a clear view of a "system" of intake, storage and out-put pipes. Store bought models are just about non-existant. Walthers used to provide a cornerstone kit but it has been discontinued. Plastruct has some propane tanks, tank you, but how to run piping and such, remains a mystery.
Any info out there?

This is another plan I want in my RR to. Now if you have one near or just a drive up the road then (if your in the US) taking photos on public ROW is not a offince. They might send security and or police but be clam and let them know what your doing but everything should be ok. Just don't act like a jerk about it. Info here: http://www.krages.com/bpkphoto.htm

I know this might not what you wanted to see but it is intersting to see at any cost.

Hope you enjoyed it.
