Aristo RS-3 sound

Has anybody worked with the old(er) Aristo RS-3 sound module? I bought one off E-Bay and it doesn't have the battery that was originally included.  Aristo Tech support' s answer is " We are no longer in the sound business."  Installation looks pretty easy, but I can't find out what battery originally came with the system and where I can get a replacement.
     ( I suspect that the guy who sold it to me had the same problem and just didn't mention it-- not particularly happy about that.)

I keep thinking 3.6.

NiCads. Original ones were a series of disc batteries welded together.

 

There is a reason they aren't in the sound business anymore.

They did not make those boards, rather sold the ones made by PH Sound.

The originals in the U-25 and FA were not, but they were a different breed, too, with horns and bells that didn't sound like any bell or horn I ever heard.

I don't recall seeing one of those in an RS-3.

 

PH is long gone, and it had something to do with over-all failure and return rates.

Don't spend a lot of money trying to get it working.

ebay, huh? We just pitch them around here so they don't get back out in the rr community and cause trouble.

Some folks have had good success with them, and you'll get some positives, which is good, but look around, and realize too that both versions are long since out of production, with NO repair facility or support.

Hi I hope I can help a little for you, I`m looking in an old aristo cat the cat says RS-3 ART no 29338   units equipped with high quality Nicad Batter-ies for long lasting operation. Picture does not show batt.

Try emailing Lewis Polk the president at aristo you may find he will get some one to pull there finger out and give you answer. I will ask my contacts for info.     You live in a great part of the country have been over there a few times

                         I don't want to throw good money after bad, but I also want to give it a shot.  Advice is good and I will try.  In the original instructions sent with the unit, it says the battery is a 4.8 volt Ni-Cad.  The updated sheet on the internet says 6 volt.  The connection for the battery seems to be very like the terminal connections for your basic 9V battery.  I'll send Lewis Polk and e-mail if need be.

I had quite a few of the old sound systems and was able to pick up the batteries to replace the ones that failed.
I sold off all of my older engines and forgot about the two battery's down in my shop till I saw your post..

The following was copied off of the battery.
Battery specs:
ENERGY+
4/6 ODK-PC
4.8 volts 80mAH

These battery tabs fit into the same holes in the board as the original battery.

If the battery's are no longer available from the company I can send you one of mine.
I have had them for 2 years.
I don't know how long the shelf life of these type battery's is, but since they have never been charged they may still work.

Hi Iv`e spoken to Lewis Polk the sound unit was made by an outside company so there is no records of spec or spares at Aristo  They are hoping to have a new unit for sale next year.  I did not have much joy with my own problem so not a good day for us
