Need help deciding next engine
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, June 22, 2006 9:08 AM
I have $500 from selling my Old Town canoe. I am thinking of getting another engine for my layout. Currently I have a USA GP-9 Great Northern setup. I am considering on one of three engines:

Aristocraft RS3 with Western Maryland fireball

Aristocraft SD45

Aristocraft Mikado

These are my choices, I just need to make up my mind. If I choose either the RS3 or SD45 I can also add sound to the unit, but getting the Mikado will pretty much empty the pot and I'll have to wait to add sound.

Hmmmm? what a delima!!!!

Just called the Hobby Shop at the above Web Site and he does not have the Mikado in Great Northern logo. He' waiting for the shipment from Aristocraft.
I also found out, that the special sound for the $369.00 price uses the Serria Sound system. For an upgrade you can get the Phoenix Sound system for $239.00 on top of the price of the Mike $259.00. Shipping will be around $20 bucks via UPS. Installation of the sound system will be an additional $75 and that includes a volume control and on/off switch.

I'll probably go with the less expensive Serria sound, that should be good enough. I went to both web sites to listen to the sounds, and Phoenix has many steam loco sounds???

I don't know if I want to give this guy my money and wait for his shipment from Aristocraft or not????

Stopped by Star Hobby yesterday after work and picked up my NEW Mikado Baltimore and Ohio. Man!!! this thing is huge and HEAVY!!!!!! It makes my USA GP-9 look like a little switcher.

Need to find out where some of these little parts go that came with it???

Hopefully all the monsoon rains are over with and I'll get to run it this weekend!!!

Got the Mike for $375....not too bad.
