One thing I find particularly irritating with conventional radio control is the antenna it tends to be very intrusive and on at least one occasion very embarrasing(it somehow managed to get up a ladies skirt, honest, wife was not impressed) it is very conspicuous and as we do not need the range that our fellow aeromodellers require I wondered if this great long stick could be replaced by something less obtrusive. Waiting in hope that some of the boffins out there can come up with an answer yours brian

Doesn't your antenna retract? Mine does (shown here extended); mine operates even with the antenna fully retracted, about 200 feet). Mine is a modified R/C boat controller.

But when there are skirted ladies about, I might be tempted to extend it.[:D]

Right Dave that seems a very sensible answer but somewhere in the nether regions of something that passes for a brain I seem to recall dire warnings about using the antenna retracted . I think the reasoning was about the transmitted power being retained wthin the transmitter this was a number of years ago things may be different today. Any comments on this idea most welcome, I don't really want to consign too much kit to the trash can; Regards Brian

I use a 'rubber duck' aftermarket antennae for my Futaba. This is ideal as it allows the 'small operators' room to swing and it bounces well.... Cost around £2.50p.

Black Kat makes a small antena in 75 mhz. I installed one in my RDC receiver and had a big performance improvement.

I did not try the transmitter, perhaps I should.

Thanks a lot for that suggestion Ralph where does one obtain these rubber antennas from and are they that simple to install? As for ladies skirts just make sure the wife's not around when you have your accident and the lady has a sense of humour.
